Sri Lanka, See More, Do More narrates the author’s first visit to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, an island nation in South Asia. Located in the Indian Ocean east of the Arabian Sea and west of the Bay of Bengal, Sri Lanka thrives with iconic history fording across 3,000 years. It’s a country where the ancient evidence of establishments dates back to 1250 centuries. Implying, you are bound to encounter countless historic-sites, ruins and cultural aspects at every corner. Gite was invited, on a press trip to Sri Lanka in November 2019 and with this short book, she unsnaps the adventures of fast travel.

The narration begins with Gite landing in Colombo and traversing around Sri Lanka’s largest city with the locals. As the plot moves forward, she shows you the best sites to visit in Colombo, which restaurants to eat at, and which hotel to stay in. In this book, Gite travels to 8 different towns of Sri Lanka to get a closer view of the rich cultural heritage, deep harbours, Buddhist writings, tea estates, wildlife sanctuaries, ancient temples and spice gardens. What makes Sri Lanka unique, is that it draws its inspiration from British, Chinese, Portuguese and Dutch culture. Gite, through her press trip, has tried to capture the island’s astounding and naturally enriched richness, that sets off a torrent of social pride.

Sri Lanka, See More, Do More is a book that highlights Sinhalese ethnicity. Along with best eateries, staycations and monumental landmarks, Gite also unfolds the architecture bearing indigenous Moorish, Malay, gothic and neoclassical designs. With this book, arrive in Sri Lanka and depart the independent Ceylon with unutterable memories.
