Evincing the regal times of Bhopal Estate’s whilom grandeur, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace is now a WelcomHeritage Leisure & Business Hotel with world-class amenities. Although, the history of this palatial architecture can be traced back to the early nineteenth century; when H.H. Hamid Ullah Khan thought of building a Palace for his daughter Abida Sultan. Noor-Us-Sabah means the “Light of Dawn,” and as the name implies, this residential palace bathes in a variety of beaut sunrise colors.
Other than being one of the most significant Royal Residences of Bhopal, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace is also a concrete symbol of the course of Indian Mughal history. Located a few minutes from the Airport, this Royal Palace will first take your breath away with its hilltop lake view location then, surprise you with extraordinary Royal hospitality.
Tracing Noor-Us-Sabah Palace to its Regal Heritage
The Chauffeur drove up the VIP road in Bhopal before, the Palatial metallic-green gates opened to the Royal courtyard. The orchestrated gardens on either side will lead you to the property’s lavish entrance lobby. The first thing that caught our attention as we got off the car, was the Royal Vintage Baggi encased in a glass box.
Wow-ed by the luxurious, wooden and gold embellishments of the horse-driven ‘Royal Carriage’ which, was once Queen’s favorite carrier; we could barely stop praising this ancient beauty. Hinting at the ceremonial life of the royal family, this Baggi is where our regal journey began. Right opposite the carriage is the stunning marble staircase shadowed by a series of red pillars.
Steeped in immense luxury, the reception hallway of Noor-Us-Sabah welcomes you to well-heeled antiquated aesthetics. (As well as, a splendid waiting lounge for visitors) Every step you take inside this Heritage property will lead you to the roots of its origin. Although, it’s the prompt service that makes Noor-Us-Sabah Palace an ideal location for guests visiting Bhopal on a leisure or a business trip.
On the ground level, you will find the reception, lake-view Marble Arch Restaurant, Royal Hammam, Fitness center, and an outdoor pool designed to recreate phenomenal city views every single day. On the other hand, we found the upper story concealed behind Palace Domes and a cornice encircling the palace with grand balustrades.
Inside Noor-Us-Sabah Palace Club Junior Suite
The first floor, lead us to a Nawabi courtyard. But, before we paved our way towards the long corridors, we noticed yet another treasure locked behind the old doors. Peep through the glass door, and you will see curved antique stairs opposite the elevator. The regal hallway is rather inviting as the wall paintings here foretell the heartfelt story of this historical wonder.
But, the ultimate selectivity began inside the Club Junior Suite. Essentially, designed to clone traditional royal stay, our suite flaunted a set of lavish fainting couch and chairs weaved in the panache of gold and orange. Overlooking infinite sky views of the mountainous city of Bhopal, this suite is perfect to enjoy the very best of the heart of India.
Everything inside here symbolizes lost charming traditions of the Royal family of Bhopal. The gracious accommodation has in fact, meticulously preserved the Vintage paraphernalia, blessed with incredible views of the natural surroundings.
From Antique collector’ item soaked in timeless beauty to princely roll-over silk curtains, this Suite is a paradise for luxury lifestyle lovers. Add to that, a luxurious walk-in-closet with a digital locker and a spacious en-suite washroom, with organic toiletries and a large bathtub. They have anything and everything you need, to make your stay comfortable.
Dining at Noor-Us-Sabah Palace
A trip to Bhopal is incomplete if you haven’t stayed at WelcomHeritage Noor-Us-Sabah Palace or tasted the authentic Bhopali cuisine. On both days, we enjoyed our first meal of the day at the lake-view “Marble Arch” restaurant, offering compact yet, scrumptious breakfast options.
From potato smileys, fish fingers, mutton Nihari, chicken sausages, a variety of bread, doughnuts, to eggs of your choice, ask for it and it shall be given.
Insider’s Tip The cheese omelet they make is out of this world! (So is the Medu Vada and the veggie pie)
For lunch, it was an absolute pleasure to taste Bhopali Seekh Kebabs, Kacchhe Gosht Ke Kebab, Bhopali Mutton Biryani, Bhopali Chicken, and Shahi Toast, prepared by the Executive Chef Suman Rakshit. Chef Rakshit certainly exceeded our expectations by serving those very-enjoyable delicacies from Zaaiqa.
Which, by the way, is the in-house restaurant specializing in Mughlai and authentic Bhopali cuisine. For Dinner, we chose to order from “Dynasty,” the Diner mastering the PAN Asian cuisine. Never ever, could we have imagined being served, what we would call the most succulent seafood in Madhya Pradesh.
Flavorsome on a level, where you will keep guessing the ingredients while devouring those last delicious saucy bits off the plate.
A Dip in the Pool or a Turkish Bath at the Royal Hamam
What truly sets “Noor-Us-Sabah Palace,” aside from other properties in Bhopal, is its centuries-old Royal Hamam, Hot Spring Bath, and the outdoor pool. Well-preserved for over a century, the Royal Hamam of Noor-Us-Sabah Palace features independent Spa sections for both men and women.
The Hamam itself is a spacious room, equipped with a modern age Jacuzzi in a traditional Turkish setup. Essentially this Moroccan-style Royal Hamam is where we were to indulge, in a lavish deep-tissue massage. Except, the massage techniques are those from the books of royal history.
For an hour, we sat towel-wrapped in the common steam room, designed to rid skin of impurities, while loosening it up, at the same time.
Undoubtedly, Noor-Us-Sabah’ centerpiece is its infinity pool, with commanding views of the city. Let’s say, Noor-Us-Sabah’s outdoor swimming pool is to India, what Infinity Pool of Marina Bay Sands is to Singapore. Open to in-house guests, this breathtaking outdoor pool is the ultimate luxurious spot to relax in Bhopal! Besides, while you unwind, let the color-changing city skylines mesmerize you with a ‘little’ organic magic.
By all means, Welcome Heritage Noor-Us-Sabah Palace is a legacy worth discovering. Featuring absolute value for money, this Royal Residence stands true to its name, the light of dawn, evoking the pure essence of Bhopal. We found the 24-hour room service, very helpful as well, the amazingly polite staff who is always ready to assist. Whether you are visiting Bhopal for the first time or not, this WelcomHeritage property ought to top your bucket list.
