Our sea vacay on Genting Dream was a swirling breeze of adventurous escapades. More so, because sailing Asia’s largest-luxury cruise introduced us to some extraordinary performances and musicals. From hosting “China’s got talent,” to “Voyage of a Lover’s Dream,” we can tell you Genting Dream is bound to create theatre for all its guests. During our December visit in 2017, a year after Genting Dream’s launch, we summoned ourselves to partake in all the heroic adventures. Which, included zip-lining over the ocean to watching an exciting musical that may have been the best ‘live show’ we have ever attended.
The Voyage of a Lover’ Dream is a sensational euphony which, foretells a miraculous love story between a mermaid and an astronaut. In a matter of 3 hours, Chinese pop-artist, Jacky Tsai seamlessly transported us; into the dark skies of agony and sprightly oceans of joy. His signature production is nothing short of a remarkable journey of love, worth discovering.
Voyage of a Lover’s Dream at First Glimpse
We were in an excellent mood after devouring a traditional 5-course meal at Silk Road. (the Chinese speciality restaurant of Genting Dream) A dinner that we finished a little early, as we had the invitation to attend Jacky Tsai’s Signature musical, the Voyage of a Lover’s Dream. Soon after, we were inside the dark theatre and were escorted to our seats. Which, on this day turned out to be the front row, with the best view of the stage.
The show opened with an exhilarating entry of two fancy fictional characters. These fictional characters eventually narrate the entire story, while, creating visionary illusions at the same time. Before you know, the double-screened backdrops take your attention away from the ethereal dance performers.
The fleet-footed portrayal of massive galaxies, to intense depths of the subdued ocean; it was all too good to be true. The hull-art performance driven by immaculate perfection had us in the first half. In the second half, our eyeballs were making a journey in both vertical and horizontal line of control.
Which by the way, was the outcome of the trampoline dance act. Up in the air, they go, down on the ground they come, while, dancing all throughout. What a shame, we were busy filming the theatrical out of sheer-elation, otherwise, keeping the electronics away is the best way to let the theatrical magic work its charm. More so, because Tsai is world-famous for his ‘remarkably-aesthetic’ pairing of, western art with the Chinese culture. To watch it unfold LIVE is phenomenal!
Tsai inspired a Conscious Awakening
In between, the artists also got off the stage, to engage the crowds. In fact, at one time, a big balloon-like ball floated towards us; which we had to further pass on to the people sitting behind us. One light touch and the ball bounced off from one corner to another.
If engagement is the driving factor of a blockbuster; then, Tsai left no stone unturned to make the onboard guests happy. (More amused, actually) The ballet dancers and the gymnasts performing the trampoline acts are outstanding. On the whole, Voyage of a Lover’s Dream inspired a conscious awakening, which was further enhanced by its glorious backdrops, and performances that deserve a standing ovation.
