Train Trips To Turn Costly in India

In the prospect of the massive traffic rush seen in many Special Trains, Indian Railways has elected 20 sets of clone trains to run on select routes starting from 21st September. As per the recent announcement made by VK Yadav, the CEO of the Railway Board, the train trips are anticipated to become costlier in the coming days. In addition to the train fares, travellers will have to spend extra moolah for a ‘user fee’ at railway stations with large footfall. VK Yadav cited that the new fee will be imposed to pull finances for the development of the stations.

VK Yadav asserted, “Where the footfall is increasing we will charge user fee there. We need to provide world-class infrastructure. However, the board hasn’t decided the ‘user fee’ as yet.” As discovered, this extra fee will be applied to 15% of the total 7,000 stations, suggesting that approximately 1,000 stations will observe a surge in fares. News alleges that ministry has allocated fifty stations for redevelopment including Anand Vihar, Bijwasan, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Habibganj, Mumbai and Nagpur. Yadav revealed, that the expected fare will be trifling. Currently, over 300 pairs of trains are operational.
