Club Room with Bathtub at Hotel Royal Orchid

I recently visited Jaipur, and there, I stayed at the Hotel Royal Orchid, decorated in tawny pink and brown tones. At first glance, its architecture conveys an authentic feel of Jaipur, however, the reason this is my favoured place to stay is that it’s situated just 3 km from the airport on the Durgapura, Tonk Road. The Durgapura Railway Station and Jaipur’s major airport are all close to this renowned 5-star hotel, which has 139 rooms, with 8 featuring a plunge pool. In fact, Hotel Royal Orchid is the only property in Jaipur’s pink city that has plunge pools in the rooms.

I got there in the evening, just as the sun set down and the hotel lights turned on. So I arrived at the property and was greeted by its illuminated peacock fountain at the entryway. The personnel handled my check-in promptly, and a staff member even led me to my luxurious Club Room with a bathtub. However, the lobby’s interiors are hard to ignore while the staff is processing your check-in. Upon check-in, you must present photo identification. Adding to the traditional Rajasthani feel of the ground floor lobby is a metallic camel on the right, while on the left is another well-equipped lounge space with contemporary decor and drop lamps.

Furthermore, the ground floor has all three restaurants. The major draw is a golden treasure chest embellished with Rajasthani designs and mounted with a painting depicting Rajasthan. They also have a small garden on the ground level adjoining the Limelight restaurant that at the time of my visit was running live music and puppet show performances. The entertainers were also selling puppets, Mojri shoes, and lacquer bangles.

Club Room with a Bath Tub

The door opened to reveal a luxurious club room measuring 337 square feet, complete with a king-sized bed and other facilities like complimentary WiFi, 42” Flat screen TV with 24-hour cable access, a mini-bar, an electronic safe, a tea and coffee maker, and an iron and ironing board. Along with your Club Room stay, you can take advantage of the complimentary airport pickup and drop-off service.

I couldn’t leave my curtain open for long because this precise room was facing the city, therefore, I suggest you specifically request a room facing the garden so you can enjoy more natural light and views. Evening was well spent at Salsa Lounge Bar, where I sipped a few Pina Coladas before heading out to the garden to watch the puppet performance.

Gym and Rooftop Pool

The exteriors of the hotels seemed significantly differently the following morning in the sunshine. I took a stroll across the parking lot to admire its majestic beauty before using the gym on the first floor.

Despite being small, the gym is provisioned with all the necessary exercise apparatus. I also spent an hour by the rooftop pool, which provides a very special vantage point of the cityscape and serves to remind you that you are in the pink city of Jaipur.

Breakfast at Limelight Restaurant

I had a great time, having breakfast at the Limelight restaurant, which serves an international menu and provides all-day dining alternatives. The morning menu included pancakes, a number of regional breakfast options and a choice of juices, smoothies and international desserts such as doughnuts. On both days, I finished my breakfast with two cups of double espresso shots. Visit Tiger Trail Restaurant and Salsa Lounge Bar for local fare.

Travel Desk and Covid19 Guidelines

A 24-hour travel desk is available at the hotel to help visitors make travel arrangements, and here you may also request access to luggage storage. Additional safety and sanitary precautions are in place at Hotel Royal Orchid as a result of the coronavirus. When such rules are in effect, the hotel may ask you for supplementary identification or proof of travel plans in order to comply with government regulations. Generally speaking, Hotel Royal Orchid is a lavish establishment promising a wonderful holiday.
