While Genting Dream is a parade of gastronomic adventures, it’s the onboard Celebrity restaurants, like Bistro by Mark Best, that take the cake away. It was an honour to enjoy one of the onboard luncheons at this restaurant owned by Australian Master Chef – Mark Best. Needless to say, I was excited beyond measure. I am an ardent fan of Master Chef Australia and to dine at a restaurant with the exact same hospitality would get any food connoisseur thrilled. You are served a palate with a celebrity touch! Wherein, each dish on the menu is a culinary masterpiece, this afternoon called for an Australian Surf N Turf.
In the time between I placed my order, to it arrived, I kept myself busy admiring the luxurious interiors. At Bistro by Mark Best, the food experience rather gets further intimate, when you relish tailored menus paired with an exclusive range of wines. While swirling my wine, I looked around to notice the elegance this restaurant was draped into. On one side, there is a designer wall with a vibrant collection of global Wines. While on the other side, was a subtle yet, luxurious decor to match a fine dining restaurant. Made to match the luxury Sea Vacation concept, the restaurant’s designs are a fusion of round chandeliers over round tables and restful chairs in shades of grey and peach. Add to that interactive Chef’s Tables and a close chat with the Chef! All is possible here.
Food arrived in about 15-20 minutes. In style, that is! First, the waitstaff placed small, square, perforated wooden boxes, on our table. As soon as, the waitstaff pour hot water over these boxes, a tissue pops out. You must use these tissues to wipe your hands to prevent any infection. I think this tissue popping culture is a swanky restaurant symbol. Then I saw the waitstaff moving my “Sydney Surf & Turf” through the table. With every bite I took off that plate, I couldn’t help but think of Mark Best’s achievements. For those who may not know, Mark Best is highly popular for his Sydney restaurant Marque. His restaurant, the Marque has won the ‘Herald Good Food Guide,’ for 10 years in a row.
Now when you think of all that, SGD 197 appears to be a reasonable price for a meal like that. On this day, my Sydney Surf & Turf was a precious spread of seafood and steaks. The platter includes Premium Australian Steak, Lobster Bisque, Lobster, Scallops, Tiger Prawns, Crab Leg, Tempura Oysters and a large portion of Pandan Icecream, Mango, and Anzac Biscuit dessert.
The medium-rare steak was cooked to perfection. So was the seafood. All in all, it was a fantastic lunch. On this day, we also had Model and famous Instagrammer Amber Chia onboard. The management was thoughtful to get her an Oreo Birthday cake and I just got lucky by being included in the celebrations. On that sweet note, the luncheon experience came to an end.
