Royal Bhopal Restaurants to Explore on Your First Trip

Royal Kitchen of Zaaiqa
Best Bhopal Restaurants

Besides being the capital of the heart of incredible India, Bhopal is also the former city of Nawabs. On my way, from Upper Lake to Taj-Ul-Masajid, the broad-shiny lanes portrayed beautiful ruins on either side of the road. A partial view into the bygone lifestyles of the Kings and Queens who once reigned this land. Not just the architecture, but the cuisine of Bhopal is just as intricate. From street vendors to the most luxurious restaurants in town, Bhopal is famous for chefs who extensively cook their meat. A lot of effort goes into pre-prep which is powerfully evident in the taste. However, only a few restaurants in Bhopal have stuck to the crux of authentic cooking, whether Nawabi or Oriental. Here’s a rundown of best Bhopal restaurants that you must certainly visit to get a taste of real Madhya Pradesh.

1. Zaaiqa, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace

Nawabi Zaaiqa of Bhopal

Woven in the delicate grandeur of a bygone era, Zaaiqa in Bhopal brings to you the original zaaiqa (taste) of a Royal Hyderabadi and Peshawari cuisine. From mouth melting Kacche Gosht Ke Kebab, Bhopali Seekh Kebabs, Mutton Biryani, Bhopali Chicken to Shahi Toast, every single dish I tasted here had a distinctively rich taste. I have eaten in Bhopal before, but nothing comes close to the authentic Bhopali cuisine at WelcomHeritage Noor-Us-Sabah Palace.

2. Marble Arch, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace

Marble Arch

Marble Arch, is another lovely restaurant by WelcomHeritage featuring magnanimous Bhopal lake views. The panorama begins to stretch from your right, with the heightened Manua Bhan Ki Tekri reclining towards the Upper Lake and a far-fetched view of the glorious capital of MP. Since, this restaurant is inside Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, the quality of food is, naturally enhanced by a harmonious balance of Indian and Western flavours. From Baked Veg pie, Nalli Nihari, fish fingers, to freshly made omelettes of your choice, Marble Arch has a whole story going on with its menu items. The interiors flaunt royal cutlery as well as, the war accessories from the time of Sultan Begum Shah Jahan. Wherein, outdoors is where you get a chance, to truly connect with the city.

3. Dynasty, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace

Japanese Ceiling in Bhopal

Dynasty is Bhopal’s best PAN Asian restaurant inside WelcomHeritage Noor-Us-Sabah Palace. Even though Dynasty specialises in authentic Oriental cuisine from various parts of Asia, the cooking techniques pretty much remain royal. During my weekend stay at Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, I had the pleasure to taste a variety of dishes. From Sichuan Babycorn, Tai Chin Fish, Tsinghua styled sweetcorn to Honey glazed sesame chicken, each dish was freshly made and deliciously amazing. So, if subtle Asian flavours get you stirred, then Dynasty is certainly your go-to restaurant.

  1. Having stayed in Bhopal for many years, I can vouch for delicacies served in this city of nawabs. Noor us sabha is a beautiful hotel, with view of lake. Your write-up revived the memory of this wonderful town.

    1. I am glad I could take you back to the memory lane Vandana 🙂 Noor-Us-Sabah is indeed a beautiful property, it just changed my whole perspective about Bhopal 🙂 Although, I am yet to explore other city restaurants, will update this list soon…
